News from HIS School
Cambodia opened to the outside world in the early 1990s after suffering through a tragic and devastating history. At that time, more than half of the population were women and children under the age of twelve.
Many street children faced hunger, exploitation, and even human trafficking. It was in that context that our first ministry, HIS CHILD, began — sharing both bread and the gospel with those in desperate need. As the children and local youth who were part of this ministry grew, they began worshipping and sharing the gospel together. In the year 2000, God led us to plant a church — HIS CHURCH.
As Cambodian society changed rapidly, God gave us a vision for a mission school and graciously provided a piece of land about 10,000 pyeong (around 33,000 square meters).
The Beginning and Growth of HIS School
In that area, there were no formal schools children only studied Buddhist scriptures inside temple classrooms. Moved by the Lord's compassion for these little ones, we built a small classroom on the school land in 2010 and began with kindergarten education.
The parents and local villagers were overjoyed and shared in the excitement of learning together. After three years of Christian early childhood education, the children began praying earnestly for an elementary school. And after much waiting, in 2018, HIS Elementary School opened in a temporary building.
HIS School is not just a place for academic learning it is a gospel outpost where children encounter God's love firsthand. These students are growing as seeds of the gospel and becoming channels through which Jesus is introduced to their families.
Now, we are preparing to build a middle and high school, so that these students, who are growing into future leaders, can continue to be equipped to build God's kingdom.
Education is a long-term mission a "hundred-year task." The building process is also a great challenge of faith, but we know that God is continually at work. Even through many hardships and obstacles, construction has never stopped. Through it, we are learning steadfast faith and obedience, experiencing the Lord's faithful provision every single day.
Prayer Requests for HIS School
1. For God's grace upon the school construction
We thank God for allowing us to lay the foundation for HIS International School in the Prekho area. May the great mountain of this construction project become level by the Spirit of the Lord, and may every classroom that is built overflow with the gospel and be used as an ark of salvation.
2. For the students waiting to enter middle school
After finishing Grade 6 in our temporary building, some students have not been able to continue to middle school due to a shortage of classrooms. Please comfort the hearts of their disappointed parents, and protect the children—some of whom have transferred to public schools or temple-run cultural centers so that they will not forget the love of the Lord they experienced over their 2 years in kindergarten and 6 years in elementary school. May they continue to grow as little disciples of Jesus, living as the light and salt of the world with His wisdom and understanding.
3. For middle school preparation and construction
We are preparing to open the middle school in October next year. Please raise up educational missionaries and volunteers, and help the construction of the new classrooms to be completed by May. We earnestly ask our Heavenly Father, who knows our urgent situation, to provide everything needed for this project. May we not respond with impatience or worry when we face challenges, but instead fix our eyes on the Lord who makes all things possible worshipping Him with faith and purity of heart.
4. For our partners and supporters
We are deeply encouraged to see how God is building Cambodia through the cooperation of His people. We sincerely thank all our ministry partners who have faithfully joined HIS Cambodia through prayer and dedication. Your partnership is a great source of strength and comfort to us.
